North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce, National LGBT Chamber, and Grubhub Community Impact Fund Presents Substantial Grants Supporting Local LGBTQ+ & Allied Businesses

August 30, 2023  | For Immediate Release

DALLAS,TX -- Grubhub, a leading online and mobile food-ordering and delivery marketplace with the largest and most comprehensive network of restaurant partners, and the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), the business voice of the LGBTQ+ community and certifying body for LGBTQ+-owned businesses nationwide, and the North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce a series of grants for local businesses. The NGLCC Community Impact Grant Program, made possible by the Grubhub Community Fund, supports LGBTQ+ & Allied-owned restaurant businesses.

“We often say at NGLCC that if you can buy it, an LGBTQ+-owned business can supply it,” said NGLCC Co-Founder & President Justin Nelson. “That is especially true of the LGBTQ+-owned restaurants and establishments across America. We’re proud to again partner with Grubhub and the North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce in offering grants to support businesses throughout the nation.

The NGLCC’s network of more than fifty Affiliate Chambers across America, including the North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce, helped amplify this grant opportunity to support local restaurants. Those local chambers will again benefit from this initiative’s Affiliate Chamber Fund. In addition to supporting local efforts to share the grant opportunity, this program has and will continue to enable any establishment that receives a grant that is not currently a member of an NGLCC local affiliate chamber to have one year of membership paid.

Local establishments receiving these grants include:

El Chifrijo
Halo’s Bar & Grill
Jonathon’s Diner
Liquid Zoo Bar & Grill
Locura Small Bites
Restaurant Beatrice
Salum Restaurant
Zen Sushi

Tony Vedda, President and CEO of the North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce commented, “We are grateful to Grubhub and the NGLCC for including the North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce in this program and giving our members and our community of locally owned restaurants the opportunity to apply for and receive much-needed funds. We admire the hard work and innovation these establishments have demonstrated to remain sustainable despite the pandemic, local storms, rising costs, and competition for talent. The Chamber is here to help launch, grow, and sustain LGBTQ and Ally-owned small businesses who welcome all.”

On August 28th, the Warwick Melrose Hotel hosted an event that brought together 2023 Grubhub Grant Recipients, the Chamber Foundation’s 2023 scholarship recipients, and their guests to celebrate their accomplishments in community.

Since 2011, the LGBT Chamber of Commerce Foundation has been providing scholarship to deserving Texas students who self-identify as LGBTQ, are children of LGBT parent(s), and allies who have worked in support of the LGBTQ community. The Foundation has funded nearly eighty scholarships totaling almost $150,000. This year, the Foundation distributed $45,000 in scholarships, including $10,000 from the Michael Doughman Memorial Scholarship Fund and $10,000 from the United Court of the Lone Star Empire scholarship fund.
