Come Out Against Cancer

Come Out Against Cancer

Friday, May 10, 2024 (7:00 PM - 11:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

LGBTQ+ people are disproportionately burdened with risk factors and screening disparities, experiencing obstacles to prevention, detection, treatment, and survival because of systemic factors that are complex and go beyond the obvious connection to cancer.

Reducing cancer disparities and advancing health equity is an overarching goal of the American Cancer Society. Health equity means everyone has a far and just opportunity to prevent, find, treat, and survive cancer. Equity acknowledges that people have different circumstances, so different tools and resources are needed in order for people to have equal cancer outcomes.

We seek people to join the Come Out Against Cancer Committee as we work together to achieve a lofty goal of reducing discrimination, increasing education, and ultimately breaking barriers so everyone, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, have a fair opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

The event will provide an open bar, entertainment, light bites, silent auction, and wine pull. By bringing together business and community members to this event, we are able to support  the American Cancer Society's mission.
