Join NGLCC’s Heritage Committee, Transgender, Gender-Expansive (TGX) and Allies Initiative, and the North Texas LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce in commemorating Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) with From Visibility to Legacy: Honoring Trans Lives Through Community Advocacy, a conversation about the importance of preserving transgender history, honoring community trailblazers, and turning remembrance into lasting impact.
Through the story of Erica Andrews, an internationally recognized transgender performer, mentor, and community leader who called San Antonio home for two decades, this session will explore the grassroots advocacy effort to honor her legacy through a proposed memorial street designation. Attendees will learn how LGBTQ+ and allied organizations, community advocates, chambers of commerce, and local government leaders can work together to preserve LGBTQ+ history and ensure the stories of those who shaped our communities are not forgotten.
This discussion will highlight the power of visibility, collaboration, and civic engagement in creating meaningful, lasting recognition. Whether you’re a business owner, community leader, advocate, or ally, you’ll leave with ideas for honoring transgender lives, uplifting community voices, and helping preserve LGBTQ+ history for future generations.
