As a member of the NTX LGBTQ Chamber we need your help! Cancer effects everyone, but not everyone equally. The American Cancer Society is hosting our second annual Come Out Against Cancer Fundraiser presented by Genentech and Texas Oncology. Proceeds will benefit the LGBTQ+ community by funding cancer screening initiatives and programs in North Texas for 2025. We are partnering with Prism Health to increase cancer screenings, training healthcare professionals to provide culturally competent care to LGBTQ+ individuals, and helping major health systems increase capacity to track and support the LGBTQ+ community.

Why Support Come Out Against Cancer?

Did you know the American Cancer Society is a leader in health equity, and here are some alarming stats that ACS is trying to combat in the LGBTQ+ community:

• On average 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
• Half (50%) of LGBTQ+ cancer patients and survivors surveyed are concerned they may face discrimination in a health care setting, and one-in-five are very concerned.
• Over one-third (37%) have faced discrimination in a healthcare setting due to their sexual orientation or gender identity, and three-quarters of those (75%) feel it impacted their care. One-quarter (24%) report that LGBTQ+ discrimination has presented a barrier to care
